Reverend True retired from active ministry on July 1, 2007 after serving
Center Congregational Church for 27 years, and was given the title of Pastor
Emeritus by the Church Council on May 23rd, 2010.

Dear Friends,
I would like to thank all of you for the honor of bestowing upon me the title
Pastor Emeritus of Center Congregational Church, U.C.C.
This is a recognition that truly is a gift of grace. I cannot account for any
specific accomplishment that was achieved by my own merit, but rather the
years of service at Center
Church which reflected
a truly congregational ministry involving all of you.
It was especially meaningful for me to discover how many of you made the
extra effort to share this special Sunday, and to also have the opportunity
to welcome new members into the life of the congregation. They will certainly
enjoy the experience of a loving Christian community of faith. I hope I was
able to deliver a message that will encourage all of us to bring the harmony
that we know in Christ to all those whose lives we touch.
I offer a special word of thanks to the members of Koinonia
and the Diaconate for hosting the lovely reception, to Eleanor and the choirs
for their wonderful music, and to Rev. Olson for sharing this special moment
in my ministry.
Marylyn and I will continue to miss you but now feel a sense of renewed
fellowship in light of this special honor. With God’s blessing we will pray
for your continuing ministry and witness at Center Church.
As was so meaningfully sung by the choir at the conclusion of the service, “…
may God hold you in the palm of his hand.”
